A 2008 Employee Benefit Research Institute study investigates immigration and health insurance coverage. The large foreign-born population in New York is increasing, and is a key group for efforts to expand insurance coverage.
The uninsured population in the United States is growing, and a variety of contributing factors have been posited. This study looks at the role of the foreign-born population in this trend and compares the health insurance coverage rates of the foreign-born population to that of the native-born population.
