Read ’em Before You Eat ’em
This October 2008 New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene campaign encourages residents to make the most of the City’s calorie-posting rules.
Under the New York City Health Code, chain restaurants are required to post calorie counts for food items on menus and menu boards; however, many are unaware that a typical adult needs only 2,000 calories a day to maintain a steady weight. This campaign seeks to link the calorie-posting to the recommended caloric intake.
