Diabetes Complication in New York City

This Albert Einstein School of Medicine study estimates the hospitalization for complications of diabetes in New York City.

The prevention and effective management of diabetes in a primary care setting can reduce the number of hospitalizations for diabetes-related complications. Therefore, quantifying the rate of hospitalization can provide a measure of unsuccessful outpatient care. This study provides data to encourage a greater emphasis on primary care for diabetes. A major goal of the NYSHealth Diabetes Campaign is to improve management of diabetes in primary care settings, such as outpatient delivery centers, community health centers, and private offices.
