January 2009
National Development and Research Institutes, Inc. (NDRI), established in 1967, is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, non-governmental agency. NDRI was chosen by the New York State Health Foundation to lead the first statewide Center of Excellence for the Integration of Care (CEIC) for Individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

This initiative will implement evidence-based practices to screen, assess, and treat mental health and substance use disorders at the same time and the same place. The Center will provide technical assistance to advance systemic changes with impact at both the provider and client levels. One of the Center’s chief objectives will be to implement best practices in integrated screening, assessment, and treatment plans in New York State’s 526 New York State Office of Mental Health- and 697 New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse-certified clinic programs. NDRI’s primary mission is to advance scientific knowledge in the areas of substance use, mental health, HIV/AIDS, and other related social and health concerns to contribute to the prevention of and solutions for these social problems. NDRI works in collaboration with a wide array of hospitals, and treatment and prevention programs.
