New York State Council on Returning Veterans and Their Families

June 2009
On Veterans’ Day 2008, New York State Governor Paterson signed an Executive Order establishing the New York State Council on Returning Veterans and Their Families to develop recommendations for a comprehensive strategy to address the multiple needs of veterans and their families in adjusting to post-service life, which involves a collaboration of Federal, State and local benefits.

The Council includes leadership from the New York State Division of Veterans Affairs, Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services, Office of Mental Health, other key State agencies, and organizations. This inter-agency council is working on a statewide Action Plan that includes coordinated services to address reintegration needs of returning veterans and their families in New York State.
