A Plan to Stabilize and Strengthen New York’s Health Care System

This report was produced by the Commission on Health Care Facilities in the 21st Century, an organization created to review and strengthen New York State's acute and long term care systems.

The Commission was charged with rationalizing New York’s use of health care resources. This 2006 report first reviews the major problems facing the State’s health care system—hospital and nursing home fiscal instability and excess capacity. The remainder and bulk of the report focuses on how and where to restructure the state’s hospitals and nursing homes to bring about more system efficiency.
