Kelly A. Hunt comes to the New York State Health Foundation as a Senior Program Director with more than 14 years of experience that includes developing, managing, and funding health care policy analysis and working at the community level. Most recently, Ms. Hunt served as a research and evaluation officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), where she led the team responsible for the organization’s Scorecard, an annual assessment of RWJF’s impact. The Scorecard includes indicators of program performance, service to grantees, financial returns, and staff satisfaction. In addition, she was a member of the grantmaking team responsible for developing a strategy to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in health care. She also oversaw the design and evaluation of demonstration programs to expand health insurance coverage, monitored a portfolio of health services research grants, and played a lead role in ensuring that the impact of RWJF’s grantmaking was carefully measured and disseminated.

Previously, Ms. Hunt was a health and welfare consultant at Towers Perrin in New York City, where she analyzed and designed health benefits plans for large corporations. As a senior consultant at KPMG Peat Marwick, she worked with a team of analysts to study patterns of health insurance and the dynamics of employer-sponsored health benefits. Finally, Ms. Hunt served as a program assistant and job developer working with the homeless population in Berkeley, California.

She is a co-author of numerous health services research articles that have appeared in journals such as Health Affairs, Health Services Research, The Milbank Quarterly, and the Annals of Emergency Medicine. She holds a Master of Public Policy degree from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University.

As one of the two senior program directors at NYSHealth, Ms. Hunt will play a lead role in developing and managing the grant-making activities of the Foundation. Ms. Hunt also will be responsible for the Foundation’s Web site, dissemination activities, and performance assessment activities.
