As Communications Associate, Margaret Figley is responsible for NYSHealth’s marketing and communications initiatives. Prior to joining the Foundation in May 2007, Ms. Figley served in a number of positions at the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), most recently as Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications for GNYHA Services, Inc. In that position, she was editor of and chief writer for GNYHA Services’ quarterly print newsletter and weekly electronic publications, which were distributed to more than 250 member hospitals. Additionally, Ms. Figley supervised the production of and generated content for GNYHA Services’ marketing materials for member retention, member recruitment, and major events. Ms. Figley also supervised the planning and execution of GNYHA Services’ conferences and educational seminars.

Ms. Figley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and International Politics from George Mason University and a Master of Public Administration degree in Health Policy and Management (with a specialization in international health) from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. At Wagner, Ms. Figley worked on a four-member Capstone team to develop an international component of the New York Times Knowledge Network Web site. During this project, she devised and administered a survey of international professors and educational leaders, conducted extensive literature reviews, and wrote a comprehensive report of recommendations for the New York Times.
