As Grants and Operations Manager, Mark Barreiro is responsible for designing and executing administrative processes to ensure efficient and effective grantmaking. Working with senior staff, he contributes to the Foundation’s long-range strategic planning and operations and assists with its communication efforts.

Mr. Barreiro has more than 14 years of grants management experience working for The J.M. Kaplan Fund and The Commonwealth Fund. He was also the Client Communications Manager for MicroEdge, a technology provider for the philanthropic community. In this role he worked with grants management professionals around the country, and organized and managed an annual three-day professional development and educational conference. During his previous grantmaking experience, Mr. Barreiro was a member of the Grants Managers’ Network and served on their Manual Committee, which developed a definitive guide to administering a grantmaking program entitled Best Practices in Grants Management.

Throughout his tenure in the field of grants management, Mr. Barreiro conducted a variety of workshops and presentations. He is currently a Grants Managers’ Network member. Mr. Barreiro holds a Master of Science degree in Teaching from Hunter College.
