Cost Containment
Preventing health care costs from spiraling out of control is a major concern in the ongoing health reform debate.
New York State already spends billions of dollars on health care each year and continued growth in expenditures is expected in coming years.
While some growth is a necessary part of expanding health care coverage, there are several areas where costs could be significantly reduced.
In an effort to foster new ideas and approaches to containing health care costs in New York, the following grantees are working to address a number of high-cost areas, from medical malpractice to hospital readmission rates.
