Expanding Coverage
From higher enrollment thresholds for Medicaid to its progressive Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus programs, New York State has made it a priority to extend coverage to those who cannot afford it.
However, the existing paper-based application processes are time-consuming and arduous.
Under an NYSHealth grant, Public Health Solutions is working to streamline these processes by making them fully electronic with the help of new technology.
Working to expand coverage even further, New York State is making Family Health Plus available to employers and their employees statewide through the Family Health Plus Buy-In program. With support from NYSHealth, the Community Service Society of New York is exploring key design and implementation issues associated with a statewide rollout, and will make practical recommendations about setting premiums and administering the program.
